Youth Dynamics host in Cyprus between 20-28 February 2022 the international youth exchange titled "Celebrate Europe". In the project participated 60 young people and group leaders from the 10 EU countries (Poland, Malta, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Cyprus), who joined together the European Union on 2004, in the biggest expansion of Europe. During the whole project participants shared information and had the possibility to contact specialists of partner NGO`s for consultations and information. This Project's main idea was to organize an inter-cultural outdoor project about the importance of intercultural communication and understanding the culture of one another. Also, this Project aimed at stressing the importance of different cultures' unity. The project fostered the improvement of the sense of European citizenship in member countries of the EU. The project succeeded in developing young people’s sense of European citizenship and helped them understand their role as part of the present and future of Europe. During its duration, we attempted to culture to the participants the sense of a common European society where all the Europeans will live together and share the same values. The objectives of the project were: 1. To explore the concept of active European citizenship and its relevance in contemporary youth work practice 2. To improve participants’ competences in using creative methods 3. To share experience and good practice in using interactive methods for active citizenship 4. To increase the capacities of partner organisations in fostering young people’s active citizenship 5. To raise the profile of international youth work and the Erasmus+ Programme 6.To allow young people to consider the impact of Europe in their daily lives. 7. To reflect on their own position within Europe: ‘Where do I stand? What is my role, my future in Europe?’ 8.To ask ourselves: ‘Where am I? Where do I live? What does Europe do for me? What can I do for Europe?’ 9. To imagine ‘how I can take part in the construction of the future of Europe that corresponds to my expectations?’ All these aspects were looked at through workshops and activities with informal educational methods organised in international groups, teams or pairs so that everyone got the opportunity to experience intercultural relationships in a real, intense and permanent way. The working methods emphasized cooperation and solidarity rather than competition. In the context of so many different cultures coexisting together in Europe, the project "Celebrate Europe" was a small step forward for the youth generation towards raising awareness of multicultural diversity and tolerance across the European Union. Especially now, in an economicaly and socially challenging situation generated by the covid-19 pandemic, we taught our youth participants to stay united and overcome all the difficulties together. Throughout the youth exchange, our participants learned about different cultures and backgrounds, as we strongly believe that young people are the ground of the community we live in. Last but not least, this project brought together a variety of cultures, histories, religions, colors, symbols and a vivid human communication between participants. Nevertheless, the project's activities corresponded to two thematically interlinked topics, namely intercultural dialogue and self-empowerment. Consequently, participants experienced both non-formal and informal learning within a multicultural and diversified environment. What's more, the project served as a platform for youths to meet, network and discover that tolerance and inclusion are important elements of a long-term sustainable society. As a particular fact, we noticed that this multi-national blending of youngsters created an interesting exchange of culture, habits and national identities. The activities of the program were directed towards increasing awareness about the EU, the rights and opportunities for citizens as defined by different EU policies, citizens’ participation in political processes as well as increasing the capacity of the civil society sector as one of the leading agents in the above democratic processes. During the project a variety of activities were implemented including: workshops, lectures, group working, discussions, outdoor activities e.t.c. The dynamics of the group was so successful that promoted European awareness and was able to build bridges between the European Youth.
