Objectives

This project consisted of two activities that were focused on the needs of International Voluntary Service (IVS) organizations. All organizations of the partner consortium are part of the IVS networks and regularly meet and discuss the issues and challenges they deal with. The common need that was being addressed by this project was the need to train youth leaders for our projects and volunteering camps (workcamps), and to do so in a way we don’t only influence their skills and knowledge as we usually do, but we mainly focused on their attitudes. This approach allowed the leaders to get proper background for their position as leaders during IVS projects. To solve this, our training concept Leaders of Change was focused on the leaders’ self-reflection mainly in the areas of leadership (with the effect of getting much more self-confidence when leading projects and groups, finding their own natural leadership style), teamwork and communication, giving them good base for getting other practical skills and increasing quality of projects they lead. At the same time, inside this project, we focused on the sustainability of this training, as this was another need the IVS organizations addressed - e.g., how to train new main trainers who would be able to deliver this training, how to transfer this training to other organizations, how to create means to make this training more sustainable in terms of human resources and finances. So other IVS organizations can keep using these methods and activities that were delivered in this project also inside their organizations in the future. The main objectives were divided into objectives for the “Capacity building” of the organizations and objectives for the participants of these 2 training courses. Objectives of the trainings for organizations: Organize 2 trainings for youth-leaders → increase percentage of campleaders who go through the training that is focused on their attitudes before leading their workcamp Create Pool of Trainers - Increase number of main trainers able to deliver this training and experienced co-trainers (so it can multiply and even more youth-leaders can be trained by this methodology) Create a system of how to work with co-trainers as a part of Pool of Trainers development Adapt the concept to be shorter and less costly with preserving most of the impact the training has today (in order to make the training realizable without European funding) Objectives of the trainings for participants: To reflect the leadership and communication style and explore participants’ own attitudes, approach and inner motivation of their work with volunteering. To improve and boost the practical skills of the participants for working with groups and projects in volunteering. To put participants’ experience into practice and multiply among their colleagues and target groups.
