The international youth exchange "Let Them Bloom Again - How to Revitalise Old Extensive Orchards" is dealing with the problems of post-communist countries countryside. After the collapse of agriculture during the 1990s and restructuralisation of the economy there are many abandoned extensive orchards, no more used for markets' production. This project wants to change it a little bit. We want to bring together 21 youth from three countries with similar natural conditions and similar historical experience - Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Main leaders from each national delegation know each other from previous international events on conservation of biodiversity and volunteer work. Their aim is to provide youth skills and knowledge necessary to start their own project of revitalisation of old orchard with special stress on economy and potential market use of fruit and following products. The project is based on the set of theoretical and practical non formal education methods, during them participants are introduced into traditional and extensive orcharding. Important trait of planned youth exchange is, that it is opened even towards the participants who are not so sure about their English. Participating countries have on one hand similar natural conditions and historical experience, they have also quite similar languages and thanks to that its speakers are able to understand each other even without English lingua franca. Thanks to that, event is opened also to youth with fewer English language skills - this problem is often an obstacle for youth from countryside for their participation in international exchange programs. The project is deeply rooted in the place of venue which is rich in old orchards and also in the exact time of the year, which is an ideal period to show and learn how to do a cut on the old trees as well as grafting of young trees.
