The association "Initiative Städtepartnerschaften Sindelfingen e.V." (ISPAS e.V.) as the leading partner organises an intercultural youth exchange with six European partner schools with the topic “Last Exit - my job, your job - what kind of society do you want to live in?”. The young people originate from Hungary, Poland, England, France, Italy and Germany. They come here mostly from rural, economically underdeveloped regions or from social focus schools from the suburbs of their cities. The German group consists of a group of young people with refugee background additionally to the young people of the economy class. During an eight days workshop the participants enter an intercultural dialogue with each other. Together they create a theatre performance with creative exercises, improvisation and roll play. The results of this joint performance will be presented twice in public. With the theatre project „Last Exit - my job, your job - what kind of society do you want to live in?" the partner schools want to address a current issue which is of great interest for young people in all European countries or young people having a refugee background. We are convinced that discussing European values with young people coming together from very different countries is of major importance. The young people shall be able to experience values such as communion, tolerance and solidarity. This youth exchange enables deprived adolescents to work together creatively, to exchange views, to develop mutual understanding and to strengthen social cohesion. The young people can experience and appreciate Europe and European values concretely by this theatre project. Aims: Due to the topic "Last Exit - my job, your job - what kind of society do you want to live in?" the participants discuss occupational opportunities about education and jobs within the different European countries. Hereby they reflect their own ideas towards the topic and exchange these with the other participants. This examination of the European education and labour market sensitizes the young people towards this subject area and the importance of education, occupation and working life. As a group they gain new knowledge about their possibilities during the workshop. The youth exchange wants to empower the young people to search their own personal entry into the education- and job market more purposefully. Dealing with the European job market, supported by the excursion to Strassburg, aims to expand the understanding of the young people towards being an active European citizen and to show them a clear European dimension. The discussion with a member of the EuroPeers during an evening will strengthen their wish to find out more about Europe and the possibilities for them to join further projects in Europe. Another goal of the youth exchange is to discuss social aspects of a society within the topic “what kind of society do you want to live in?”. Questions such as “What values are important for me?”, “How can we coexist peacefully?”, “Where will my path in this performance-oriented society lead me?” are thought through thoroughly as a group. Hereby the goal is to achieve mutual comprehension, solidarity and tolerance between the young people and to strengthen the social cohesion and the European public spirit. The young people experience that the European Union is positive for people and can offer great possibilities for them. Goal for each adolescent is to strengthen his/her confidence with the acting performance. Everyone shall overcome their language barriers and improve their expression through language. This experience aims for young people to talk to each other in a better manner and to solve conflicts by discussing them. The training of the voice as well as the physical and the emotional expression shall achieve a more sensible perception of the group members and oneself to enhance the social competence of each person. The public performances and the YouthPass will show the participants appreciation and recognition for their creativity, their perseverance and their effort. This sense of achievement will reinforce the positive sense of community and the ability of teamwork. Hereby every participant can achieve an extent of their intercultural and social skillset.
