Objectives

Loesje e.V. is an organisation active quite long in youth work. Our methodology is very inclusive, therefore our workshops and projects are a safe space for many. We always strive to transfer our values to our participants and to make for them a learning environment, where they will feel free and themselves. This helped us to come close to many topics that the participants in our training feel free to bring up. Before this project idea was developed, we had many talks about the well-being of young people, effects of hate speech online and offline and how depression and anxiety can lead to radical attitudes. We decided to bring this topic to the international stage and to create a project where we will explore different concepts that can lead to radicalization of youth, at the same time offering creative non-formal educational methods for the empowerment of youth. This project was created to respond to current challenges and to motivate youth worker’s, educators, and youth activists to work on motivational concepts with youth in order to foster inclusive behaviours. In the meantime the pandemic happened and the Ukrainian war started, so this project happened exactly when the needs were emerging even more than before. The needs of this kind of project were big, therefore many partners were interested in participating and we wanted to involve partners from many different regions in order to have an even wider impact. We were very happy that a Ukrainian NGO could participate during the war time. We also wanted to pay attention and explore topics such as: "tolerance", "hate speech", "discrimination", "radicalization", "inclusion", "social dialogue", through motivational concepts and theories. This project equipped youth workers with skills and competences, to use emotional intelligence to come closer to young people, and help them feel motivated, inspired and empowered. We could not find a better way than non-formal educational methods that will offer young people the possibility to influence changes through critical thinking (the Loesje methodology), understanding and tolerance, mutual dialogue and by “using the buttons” to be active in their societies. This project has the following general objectives: - To learn the importance of emotional intelligence in youth work and motivational concepts for working with unmotivated youth - To learn creative and innovative methods for inclusion and exchange good practices in the field of inclusion - To raise awareness about EU democratic values and their role in intercultural youth work As a specific objective of this project we set: - To learn and practice creative methods for combating hate, discriminatory behaviors and radicalization
