Objectives

From 19th to 28th May 2020 young people from Greece, Portugal, Poland and Germany will come together to participate in the youth exchange "Be(e) natural", taking place in the youth educational centre Ottersleben in Magdeburg. During the week the 32 participants will deal with the following questions: How does their everyday life influence their environment? What responsibility do they have with their consumer behaviour? How do economy and ecology/environment associated? The central point of the project is exchange and encounter, common learning, the mediation of European values and transcultural competences. During the youth exchange youngsters from different countries and with different religious, social and economic backgrounds come together and work together. During this time the handling of questions about participation possibilities in their region, country, but also in Europe are important points. This way, the youngsters will realize their influence and find out, how they can be a gainful part of their respective society. Even though they have different backgrounds, experiences and origins, the participants also bring common points, which they can exchange about and with them they can work. The main activity of the exchange is the visit at a local beekeeper, where the participants will learn a lot about honey production and the important role of bees for the flora and thus also for agriculture and food production. During this visit and following workshops the interests of important stakeholder (farmers, regional traders, big cooperation in food logistics, consumers...) are regarded and discussed. The participants should thus be motivated to reflect the impact of their everyday decisions on the environment, to question their own consumer behaviour and maje informed and critical decisions in the future. Additionally, the youngster will visit the city of Magdeburg during a day trip as well as an additional city, where they will exchange with members of an organisazion, that works in the field of sustainability and awareness for it. The practical workshops are supported by discussionrounds and reflection times, to give the youngsters the opportunity to exchange experiences and oppinions about what they have seen and done. The participants will record their experiences in photo or video form and present them on the last day.
