Objectives

The project "YOUth health matters" aims at bringing together young people from different countries to exchange best practices and ideas on inclusivity, diversity and health. During an ten-day youth exchange that will take place in Germany, young people from Georgia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Ukraine, Croatia, Greece and Germany will learn about different concepts on how to include people with disabilities in an educational and work environment, what challenges they face, how their special situation reflects on team dynamics and overall team motivation and what asset people with disabilities bring to a team. Here, partner organizations with profound experience on inclusivity will advice partners who are willing to work with people with disabilities in the future on how to best approach their endeavour. The second focus of the exchange is put on diversity. Here, participants will be able to draw from own experience and the situation in each country. Participants will talk about what it means to be different, marginalization and how to create an atmosphere were diversity is celebrated rather than feared. Finally, mental and physical health is a topic combining both aforementioned themes. As a basis of individual well-being, especially mental health is important to reflect on oneselve's behaviour and develop mechanisms to deal with emotions and challenges. Only if the individual feels healthy and good about him-/herself he/she can treat others well. Emphasis is put on informal learning methods to maximize learning outcomes. The main objectives of the Project “YOUth health matters” are as follows: - to increase knowledge of the participants about the topical issues of well-being, mental and physical health, emotional intelligence, inclusion etc.; - to share information and experience of their organization, target groups and projects working across the given theme; - to work out similarities and differences as well as build various ideas for the future projects; - to connect local community activities with the European project and work in the spirit of active European citizenship; - to promote mutual understanding in the process of project activities; - to integrate and combine communal / local / national approaches within the project; - to combine intercultural and non-formal learning as a focal point to achieve effective project results; - to combat exclusion of the disadvantaged through the deliberate involvement of young people from social hot spots and special life situations; - to involve participants facing difficulties and fewer opportunities (e,g. various kinds of Disabilities, Health problems, Socioeconomic obstacles); - to strengthen the status of Health and Healthy Lifestyle as a social Value; - to gain a clear view of the possibilities and priorities within the Erasmus+ Programme - to understand how to include non-formal learning and Youthpass in Youth Exchange Projects Working Style. In the end, this is a dynamic project combining various interactive and non-formal learning methods. As a derivable of the youth exchange, participants will be more aware of themselves as young, creative Europeans that can be actors of positive change. They will have developed skills both for working individually and in groups, they will be able to write a story and share it online. The project will have an impact on the local area of North Sea and the region Lower Saxony as the aim and results of the youth exchange will be spread through the local press and with the new media.
