Objectives

We see that the dynamic & fast paced social and economic changes have created the need for innovative and adaptable teaching and learning techniqies. We need approaches which encourage and mobilise personal development. We see a disbalance between the educators' objectives and need of young people in this topic. Most of the organisations already acknowledged the need for changes but they are lacking tools and methods to implement them. Such methods and tools could bring not only solution in the area of needed reforms but also freshness and new energy into the communities educators work with. "The Game is On!" will be focused on designing educational games as well as developing competences for youth workers, trainers and facilitators on topics related to social exclusion and other global challenges. The training will be aimed at people who are intrerested in searching for and exploring unusual and creative ways of solving problems which they face every day, with the groups they work with. We will work on developing specific competences in designing and implementing educational physical games with youth workers, trainers, facilitators. Participants will be encourages to look at themselves as a part of the group / society, search for solutions together and activiely participate in the group building processes. The important aspect of the training will be gaining new skills by participants, which will be helpful in many fields of life, not only in professional life but also in personal lives, for example in the area of emotions and the therapeutical aspect of game playing. “The Game is On!” will be focused on developing specific competencies in designing and implementing educational physical games for youth workers, facilitators and trainers, on topics related to social exclusion, local and global challenges, who believe physical games are an efficient tool to increase the awareness, information and education level among young people at risk. The participants will be invited to search for and explore unusual and creative ways of solving problems. They will be encouraged to look at themselves as a part of the group and actively participate in the process of building group awareness. During the project we will explore a therapeutic role of physical games and learn how to use them in different environments and withing diverse social groups. New skills gained by participants will be helpful in many fields of life, including proffesional development, the ability to co-create and co-exist in intercultural environments and deal with social challenges of all kinds which are often directly linked to the topics of social inclusion, human rights, tolerance and respect, values of freedom and solidarity. We want to spawn a sense of initative and critical thinking through experiencing and designing game dynamicss connected to issues of our societies in a safe group. The games designing and learning how to use games in various contexts could become a part of the non-formal activities presented by youth workers, teachers or group leaders to their communities. With this training we want to spread awarness & knowledge about non-formal, informal & lifelong learning within our expanding networks. Participants of this course will be able to plan, implement and debrief non-formal learning sessions and promote the recognition of certificates for non-formal learning such as the youthpass. To increase this effect and spread the results of the training we design follow up activities and future projects towards the end of the training. This includes planning dissemination activities that reach out to new organisations and networks - which has been working exeptionally well in our last projects. Another focus is to promote and educate on digital learning throughout the course including preparation and follow up activities. We want to involve participants, partners and target groups of our dissemination into the potential of digital media and offer ways to approach this area. The knowledge of these tools together with innovative and creative approaches to tackle issues in youthwork, increases the employability of youthworkers. We make sure that we will also pass on our experience and connections to the labour market in this training. We have chosen partners with particular experience in this field that work on connecting youthworkers with employers and social entrepreneurs. Another factor that will be furthered by the training are of course language competencies. The course will be held in English and participants will mainly communicate and improve in English language but also have opportunity to pick up on the many other languages & nonverbal communication happening throughout the training.
