The German-Ukrainian youth exchange "Make a change! - We all are responsibile for the future", Aktion West-Ost and its partner organisation German Youth in Ukraine succeeded in drawing attention to the current challenges and problems arising due to climate change and environmental pollution and to call for active action. We looked at national, Europe-wide and international climate policy in order to shed more light on the problems and harmful effects and to be able to understand them better. It was particularly important for us to emphasise the responsibility of each individual for ourselves and future generations. Our basic rights to life, health, education and property are at risk due to the progressive destruction of the environment. It was important for us to show how important environmental protection and sustainability are for the preservation of human rights and social justice. We also wanted to look at which values are important for sustainable development or which values need to be pursued more strongly by our society. For this purpose, the participants managed to develop their own regional environmental campaigns - projects to protect the environment in their place of residence. Due to Russia's war against Ukraine, we could not avoid taking up this topic and answering the question, what effects does war have on the environmental situation - not only in the country but also in the whole of Europe and our world.
