Objectives

(Y)our Europe?! was an intercultural project that promoted social cohesion between young people with and without refugee background and in general between youth with different cultural and religious backgrounds. The project provided a platform for exchange and peer-support and can be an important example on how the challenges of appreciating living together can be shaped. In (Y)our Europe?! young people had the possibility to get in contact with each other in a respectful and safe environment. In many cases, there is only very reduced contact between young refugees/asylum seekers, young people with different cultural and religious backgrounds and their local peers. If there is, it is often characterized by a helping component or as well by a feeling of insecurity or mistrust. Furthermore, awareness on existing priviledges and power imbalance is often limited. With this project we tested an alternative model, that is based on peer-to-peer support and on the promotion of the skills and experiences of every involved. However, (Y)our Europe?! went one step further and didn’t only want to promote these skills but trained its participants for assuming a changemaker role, too. Thanks to that, they are now able to share their vision of an enriching and solidarity-based living together and to concretely contribute to that in their local contexts.
