We wanted to support youth workers and youth movements as key actors in the transformation of European communities into sustainable/regenerative communities. We wanted to achieve this overarching objective through three specific objectives: (1) Constructive collaboration and personal development: The training was designed to develop, in the participants, a culture of collaboration, non-violent communication, deep democracy, agile teamwork, participatory facilitation and self-expression, in a way that would allow them to take the learnings into their life and work, making it easier to achieve participatory processes of communication and organisation and facilitating them in youth work. (2) Integrative sustainability and participatory education: The training was designed to impart the participants with a deeper understanding of integrative sustainability, including complex-systems insights into the interdependencies of ecology, society, economics and worldviews, in a way that would allow them to implement participatory pedagogical processes they practiced during the training. (3) Community living and building: The training was designed to impart the participants with the experience of being in a well-functioning, sustainable intentional community, in a way that would allow them to support youth and their local communities in achieving positive transformation and community building. In addition to this, the partner organisations wanted the project to help them achieve the following: (1) Create bridges to the climate-justice and extinction-rebellion movements in Germany, that have mostly young activists, and reach out to other, like-minded movements and to the youth active there. (2) Create the basis for a curriculum on training youth as young leaders for a more resilient future. (3) Support the double linking and transparency of work, actions, efficiency and contributions in associations. (4) Learn deeply democratic decision making. (5) Gain more facilitation skills. (6) Inspire youth workers to support youth in civil movements. (7) Learn how to inspire youth to become change makers. (8) Learn how to build a community and experience community living. (9) Learn about taking responsibility and care for the planet, and how to live within the planetary boundaries and with respect for nature.
