"WiesPaten unified 2020: Diversity - Respect - Cooperation" has undergone major changes at every stage of the project. It was planned as a milestone of a model partnership project. It was intended to serve as an intermediate stage between the model year 2018, in which municipal youth services, schools, companies and international NGOs in a broad alliance opened up new paths and perspectives for young people, and a proposed further development of the programme in 2021. The project design had been based on the partnership with WiesPaten, but then had to take on a life of its own. "Diversity - Respect - Cooperation" represents both the official objectives of the WiesPaten programme and the maxims of the youth project itself. The wishes of the participants are taken into account and adapted in the preparation, and between the outward and return encounters. "Wiesbaden unified 2020: Diversity - Respect - Cooperation" is a bi-lateral youth exchange in Germany and Latvia. It was renamed from Wiespaten to Wiesbaden for the reasons mentioned above. Internally, however, the project was given a new title due to the considerable conceptual change that was necessary. The project was called "Open Opportunities" from summer 2022, after a conceptual meeting with the Latvian partner itself. The title should refer to the project's objectives in terms of stimulating development for young people, and the "open" is also chosen to refer to the camping aspect of the project. In both meetings 36 young people from 2 countries met. The creation of a European awareness was at the forefront of this programme. The habit of working together in partnership is cultivated and further established. All projects follow an intercultural system, which supports getting to know each other, self-conversion and learning to learn. The project units start with group work and intercultural exchange. With low-threshold interaction and theatre pedagogical games and exercises, language animations, as well as adventure and team games, the groups are brought together and intercultural dialogue is stimulated. City Bound methods are used to explore the city and the living environments of the host group. Through methods of forum theatre and video editing, the influence of Europe on the lifeworlds of the young people is depicted visually and presented in improvisation exercises in smaller scenes. In artistic and youth cultural workshops, the young people are given the opportunity to find an interest of their own and together present their opinions, wishes and ideas about diversity, respect and cooperation, about their home and the EU. Towards the end of the Youth Exchanges, when the young people are more confident in their forms of presentation, there is a small final presentation. Circus: Juggling & Acrobatics New Media: Photo & Video Theatre: Theatre & Performance in the first youth encounter and a stronger focus on photo / video in the second youth encounter. During the encounter, small group work and work in the whole group explored the impact of Europe on personal lives. Many of the young people came from households with special social needs. Some of the participants are directly affected by the war of invasion in Ukraine. The programme is designed to establish reliable, binding and productive contact with young people at risk and, through a steadily growing relationship of trust, to support them in achieving their goals.
