"The world is increasingly at risk of “climate apartheid”, where the rich pay to escape heat and hunger caused by the escalating climate crisis while the rest of the world suffers, a report from a UN human rights expert has said". Philip Alston, UN special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, said the impacts of global heating are likely to undermine not only basic rights to life, water, food, and housing for hundreds of millions of people, but also democracy and the rule of law. Moreover, the thunder of the speach of the 16th years young activist Greta Thunberg at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP24) awakes the way of thinking about the Climate change and seems to be changed not only between young people but also between adults. Greta became an example and a lot of young people through Europe and whole world try to follow her paths. On 15 March 2019, an estimated number of 1.4 million students in 112 countries around the world joined her call in the striking and protesting. Greta became an example and a lot of young people through Europe and whole world try to follow her paths. On 15 March 2019, an estimated number of 1.4 million students in 112 countries around the world joined her call in the striking and protesting. On 13 March 2019, three members of the Norwegian parliament nominated Thunberg as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize later this year. After her declaration about the destruction of our planet and the lack of future for the forthcoming generations the perception of role of the young people for environmental issues seems to be different. In the frame of an economy measured according to a continuous increase of production, we assist to a gradual increase of waste materials, both environmentally and in the everyday life. Compared to an increase of extraction of basic materials, impoverishing more and more resources on the planet. What strategies can you think and apply in daily life in order to reduce the environmental impact and encourage a good behavior? How can we combat also the youth unemployment by using virtually the issue of recycling? The aim of this project is to train youth workers and young leaders to develop, test and share creative strategies for reducing the amount of waste materials and reusing or reworking by transforming them into a source of new jobs in order to increase the working opportunities of young people as well as a brith for the planet. Specific objectives: - environmental education - strategies for waste minimization - recycling - creative recycling - up-cycling workshops: how to give a new life to old clothing - short chain convenience - zero distance shopping - sharing goods, things, objects - reusing materials and objects -up-cycling food scraps Theoretical aspects: Entrepreneurship through recycling :examination of materials, recycling opportunities and recycling paths in diverse situations; group work in regards to prevention and preservation of materials; motivation strategies for reuse and recycling on multiple levels such as home, school, business and industry. - Creative workshops on different materials, for example paper, plastic, parts of objects, food scraps, cloths. - Final meeting, open to the public, will present the activities carried out as well as an exhibition of all proposals, objects and projects. The training course will take place in Githeio in April 2020. It will last 8 days and will gather 35 youth workers and young leaders from Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Morroco and Cyprus. We have involved Balcanian and Euromediterranean countries as our NA has as National priority in order to create cooperation with these neighbours. We will use non formal and informal education approach through experiential learning practices. The training course will be learner centered by the help of the trainer and facilitators. Unfreezing practices, group dynamics and games will help in order to stick the groups of the participants. The outcome of the project: During the training course, with the cooperation of all partners, will give a demonstration of cleaning an adopted area of Githeio as an example of Fridays for future. This action will be an example for the people to do the same and in the same time a dissemination for Erasmus plus and our project. During the action we will invite for cooperation local group of volunteers and journalists. Moreover, a light electronic manual centered on courses on waste transformation on working opportunities and smart strategies will be created. The mentioned above toolkit will be placed in SALTO’s toolbox and will be available for free to be used by youth workers, young leaders, teachers, practitioners and stakeholders as a guide for defining and assessing recycling competences.
