Technology is a constant in our existence. The connection to social media, to an information portal and virtual realities have become the norm. Every moment of our life is regulated or connected by some technological device. Today, smartphones are the core of our social life, computers are our main tools of work and biotechnologies (such as pacemakers) literally have the power of life or death. The more society evolves and becomes complex, the more technological tools are intertwined with socio-political, economic and cultural dynamics. We believe that there is also a good use of technology. Technology becomes an extension of the five senses and not a replacement. To do this, however, it is necessary to be aware of who we are and the possibilities we have without technology. Through this project and with the different tools used in it we were working in parallel with the objectives of the ERASMUS + program: - Increasing empowerment and self-esteem; - Improving foreign language skills; - Enhancing intercultural awareness; - More active participation in society. The aim of the youth exchange "Unplugged!" is to understand the influence that technology and media have on our lives, "disconnecting" for a while, working on the potential that our 5 senses have to then discover what are the good uses of technology, and how we can use it and turn it into an extension of our senses. In a global context of continuous technological evolution, exponential, very fast; every moment of our lives is established, guided, marked and dependent on technological means. Today, telephones are the pivot of our social life, computers are our main tools of work and biotechnologies such as pacemakers literally have the power of life or death. The more society evolves and becomes complex, the more technological tools are intertwined with socio-political, economic and cultural dynamics. The objectives were those of: - to raise awareness of the potential of the influence of the network and technologies, both positive and negative. - to give self-confidence, to make people understand that we are not our profiles on social media and virtual realities, but much more. - show an alternative to a technologically hyper-connected life, connecting to other people through our 5 senses, through art, music, sport - live a period disconnected from the Internet - how we can use technologies, the network and social media in a positive way and solve problems of hyperconnection and dependencies. To do this we asked ourselves some questions - How do we consciously and unconsciously exclude ourselves and not see the potential we have? - What do we really know about new technologies? - What can be changed and improved locally and internationally to make the most of the potential they offer? - How do the five senses affect our lives? How do they affect our state of mind, our emotions? - How can I turn technology into an extension of the 5 senses? Participants were to realize that they can, with their attitude, make the change they want in society and that they can have a positive impact on themselves but also on other young people. The peculiarity of really disconnecting from the net, from social media, and from the most modern technologies, for a period of time of a few days, showed us what is the influence that these means have on our lives. All this, faced in a group context, led to the development of other connections, human. In this context of disconnection, dealing with workshops and activities on the 5 senses gave awareness and created a strong impact on participants. Let’s look at a few areas of our life where disconnection is very important. We looked at why it’s important to change our approach to them and how this can benefit us. Our aim was to create a great impact on the awareness and future decisions of the participants, on the partner organizations, on the local communities involved and on the target group through dissemination activities. We expected a strong awareness, we expected the issue to be taken seriously and then have important feedback on the lives of participants once home. We addressed issues related to real-life, hearing and analyzing the views of participants, and altogether, with the valuable support of partners, we were searching for solutions, ideas and alternatives, designing activities that have a positive impact, all through the sharing of good vibrations, energy, ideas and new learning techniques.
