Objectives

''Social media as an ally to youthworkers' capacity enhancement'' is a project aims to empower 29 youth workers, from Greece, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Romania, Lithuania, Italy, Turkey and Serbia, to search deeper into themselves, figure out their strengths and weaknesses, make decisions consciously how to develop their skills, and build their future in an inclusive world through the combination of effective use of social media and social network and NFL. The Activity Week will be implemented through a Training Course in Zakynthos in July 2020. There will be 29 participants with little or no experience in international trainings, not so skillful in the use of I.T., face social, healthy, cultural, educational or economic barriers or/and seek opportunities for development. There will be also 2 trainers from NECI CY and NECI GR. Background/Context: People are anxious and pressured with demanding life to form the future, to survive from the financial problems, to be healthy, to be up to date with trends, etc. These in addition to new facts of Social media and Mobile Communication Devices affect effective communication between people. The consequence is self and social marginalization, vanity, and apathy to diversity and to personal development. Today life should include new modes of technology for effective communication, but sadly, it's happening the opposite. Mobile Communication Devices and Social media barred or trapped life of many people (Drago,E. 2015). Social media, though, were developed in a way that should support people coming closer to each other and share information. Youthworkers and NGOs realized that what is really happening is that the more the social media are being developed the more the users (and especially the youngsters) are being distracted from reality, they are excluded from society, and they even self-marginalized. Youthworkers are facing these issues every day and realize that they have to support and assist their youngsters and themselves to confront these problems. Youthworkers express the need to find ways to keep the balance and improve their practices in order to be able to work effectively with youths to make use of Mobile Communication Devices and Social media for themselves and social development and inclusion. With this project we will present and create tools, share practices and develop skills and competences through NFL in order to empower youthworkers to use social media and social network as a supporting mean to their professional and personal enhancement. We intend to train youthworkers on how to use in better way facebook, linkedin, youtube, create websites, being etc. critical on information that come from Internet and understand cyberbullying effects to support youngsters more effectively, reducing social exclusion and increasing employability opportunities. Methodology (NFL): simulations, role plays, sharing of experiences, group work, jigsaw, energizers etc, guest speaker, media use. The objectives of the project are to 1. raise awareness on the potentials of social network and it’s effects on social inclusion; 2. rise knowledge and skills of participants in social media (SM) and social networks (SN) for enhancing positive results in youth work; 3. share expertise and training related to the usage of SM-SN for developing Tools for youthworkers; 4. support participants enriching their knowledge about using and implementing non-formal education in SM-SN for their own development; 5. achieve further knowledge on how to usе SM-SN as tools for approaching and motivating youngsters, enforcing this way their employability and their active citizenship and European citizenship. 6. build long term partnerships for future collaboration in the youthfield.
