Objectives

The main aim of this project was to raise awareness about non-discrimination, tolerance and intercultural dialogue, to raise the capacities of the youth on recognizing and fighting discrimination and promoting tolerance using drama methods and to promote mutual understanding between young people from different backgrounds. The organisations involved in this project have faced diverse opinions and experiences of participants and staff related to discrimination or intolerance This was the main reason we have been engaging in deep research and activities on these issues. This was an initiate of young people to set up a project on this topic (theater against discrimination), and it was the start of this project to empower young people to recognize and stand up against discrimination. The theatre method has been chosen because it is an extremely efficient active learning approach that allows exposing and discussing such a difficult topic as discrimination. Our aim was to empower young people to recognize and stand up against discrimination. Objectives of the project were: To increase young people’s knowledge about discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes To develop young people’s acting and self-expression competencies to increase their self-empowerment and self-esteem To create a social performance to discuss problems of discrimination people in the community To develop young people’s capacity for exposing and solving social problems using drama methods To promote tolerance, non-discrimination, inclusive approaches among young people and their local communities
