Objectives

Repop-up English is an exchange about learning different languages, especially English, for young people with fewer opportunities, who have difficulties in learning, or who are marginalised from society. We want to have boys and girls from different countries, beliefs, cultures who want to share and meet foreign people, start speaking in different languages and become an active part of the societies they live in. The main characteristic of this exchange is that the participants did not know English very well or were not fluent in English and this language barrier made them feel outside the community. This is therefore an inclusive group with specific needs for care and support. That is why the exchange was intended to be a support and motivation for them to learn languages, to dare to use different forms of communication: verbal, non-verbal, etc., and to feel included in the community through communication. We wanted to involve more young people from the community, who in general were not involved because of language barriers. We wanted to encourage young people to take up the challenge and do this exchange as a form of self-development. From our experience, we knew that when young people participate in these mobility projects they are motivated to learn languages and participate in other projects, as long as they receive adequate support and are stimulated to use various forms of communication. Moreover they become promoters of other local or international civic activities in a local community. Therefore we see this exchange as an investment in the development of the community, both local and European. THE OBJECTIVES of this exchange have been: 1. To create, share, explore and test creative methodologies based on non-formal education for language teaching. for language teaching 2. To support young people in the search for diverse forms of communication. 3. Stimulate young people in building intercultural relationships with their peers from other countries. other countries 4. To explore how to communicate sensitively and constructively in an international and intercultural context. intercultural 5. To create a safe space for the exchange of ideas and to boost creativity All objectives were in line with the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme, and have had as a priority to foster a learning process through activities based on non-formal education, during which participants used their imagination and creativity, learning in an experiential way. All of these approaches involved both the development as human beings and the young people's capacity to create, imagine and transform their environment. The participants have been mostly young people with fewer opportunities, who enjoyed this learning experience for the first time. This project made them leave their comfort zone and acquire skills that are basic for their personal and professional development (expressing their opinion in an intercultural group, speaking in English, living for a week with young people from other countries, creating new friendships, ...). This intercultural exchange has been in line with a very important point in the field of citizenship and collaboration across European countries because it relied on fundamental values such as intercultural communication, inclusion and solidarity to encourage participation and active citizenship of young people.
