The overall objective of this youth exchange was to give young people a leading role to develop and implement their initiatives as much as possible. The aim was to encourage their active role in local life as well as youth networks in the Matarranya area and to encourage young people to develop their own local and solidarity initiatives. We found that a healthier way of life based on permaculture, appropriate technology and bio-construction can offer practical opportunities to face the challenges of their environment and be a source of entrepreneurship, especially in rural areas. The objectives achieved throughout the project were the following: - To foster the exchange of perspectives on problems and solutions specific to the rural world regarding climate change and environmental issues. - Promote a space for learning knowledge, skills, cross-cutting attitudes and personal growth focused on social activism and sustainable lifestyle through non-formal education methods. - Developing competences and awareness on social issues through peer learning that consolidate values of solidarity, gender equality, critical thinking and youth initiatives. - Building a network of international contacts between young people and organisations linked to the project. - To create an atmosphere of inclusion and interculturality by promoting diversity, dialogue and common values of respect and tolerance that eliminate xenophobic prejudices. - To facilitate language learning - To raise awareness of the Erasmus+ programme among participants and local youth in particular. Participants learned through practical activities. The main objective is to use current technologies and traditional techniques to find creative and sustainable solutions that can realistically solve everyday problems. The transition to a more sustainable society requires young people to have new skills and to enhance their critical capacity towards the world around them. Our aim is to provide participants with the motivation and skills necessary to remain active in this area as well as to acquire new tools that will give them the capacity to become entrepreneurs in the rural world and encourage their active participation.
