The project "MEdia & YOU" had as its main objective to bring young minors closer to a responsible use of media and social networks and to give them the opportunity to investigate the influence of media in their daily lives. Thanks to the active participation of both participants and leaders in the activities during "MEdia & YOU" we were able to offer participants and staff an intercultural learning experience while analysing and comparing the differences between old and new media in each of the participating countries and their influence on each of these societies; we focused on social media as a new means of news dissemination and reflected on the manipulative power of social media and the role of youth news makers; we also reflected on the emergence and/or intensification of phenomena such as hate speech and cyber-bullying; we shared with the participants the basic tools of news creation e.g. through video, social media... and they had the opportunity to get involved in first person, doing group work in a multicultural environment and in contact with the local community; with this we favored the development of an awareness of European values as well as knowledge of international mobility opportunities, Erasmus + and non-formal education methods which helped to create a network between young people and European organisations to develop future collaborations.
