Dealing with unexpected situations and sorting them out with a Creative Improvised response is a hot-topic in youth work. This project partners agree that our daily work with youngsters require learning to manage uncertainty. From the youngsters perspective, the target groups we work with often face unemployability issues and need to juggle with daily confrontations due to social differences (belonging to a cultural minority, facing gender issues, discrimination for sexual orientation or having formal education difficulties). In this scenario, it is necessary that our youth workers renew the methods used and adapt our approach to keep offering support to the current needs of our youth groups. After conversations with the project partners and collecting their opinions and needs in a survey (attached to the application form), we realised we are facing a stage in which we are running out of creative resources to work with our youngsters. Inspired by scientific research, all the partner organisations involved in this project agree that participating in an Improvisation training will support us to better face the daily work with youth and empower them in this changing and uncertain reality. We want to carry out this activity to develop our youth workers’ Improvisation skills and explore the applicability of Improvisation in youth work. Our intention also involves creating innovative ways to use it for educational purposes to support groups of youth facing fewer opportunities. Together with the project partners, we define the objectives of the project: 1. Develop participants' Improvisation skills, encouraging them to incorporate new techniques and principles of Improvisation into their daily life. 2. Learn about Improvisation from the perspective of an inclusive practice that enables to reflect upon, question and dilute stereotypes linked to gender roles, migration and social / cultural differences (as well as other meaningful topics for the participants and partner organisations) 3. Practice facilitating exercises based on Improvisation and learn to extract meaningful learnings, equipping the participants with tools for their youth work activities as well as creating new ones, taking into account that it is a methodology with an artistic, pedagogical and social potential. 4. Educate a holistic listening to oneself and to others, emphasizing a methodology of learning through the body, having equal importance as the mind to perceive any experience.
