Objectives

The context is set in the will of SCI Catalunya of putting social inclusion in the centre of our work. SCI-Cat has organized already 5 youth exchanges last summers with a big success. The result was highly positive, the participants' evaluation and impact on them was satisfactory and the current situation in Europe made us decide again to prepare a new exchange with the focus on the same topics again. The same context encouraged us to strenghten the partnerships whith whom SCI-Cat already works to improve the project results and moreover, influence in spread of social inclusion in volunteering. The main goal is to promote social inclusion in Europe by strengthening voluntary organizations and by organizing an exchange between young people at risk of social exclusion coming from different countries. In order to strenghten the organizations working for social inclusion within SCI, SCI-Cat will host a youth exchange that will deal with racism, cultural and gender identity, european conflicts around migration and borders and the communication of mass media. Moreover, there will be the activities in the local area as an added value to the exchange, in order to foster awareness on the difficulties in rural areas and the importance of preserving nature. The participants are youth with fewer oppotunities which deal with vulnerable situations. This criteria are set between all the partners before the selection. The goal is to break the situations of vulnerability through inclusion and participation in a diverse group to be able to get a critical perspective. The groups must have at least 2 participants out of 4 from a socially disadvantaged profile. The group of SCI-Cat will have 8 participants (6 plus 2 coordinators). It is allowed for youth out of this profile to participate so they contribute to social inclusion and the diversity of the group increases. The youth will be accompanied by a coordinator from each country motivated to social inclusion and SCI values, and with a previous training offered by each partner organization.
