Objectives

The "Green SOSlutions" youth exchange aimed to help young people discover how responsible food consumption can enormously contribute in the fight against climate change. The project aimed to answer the following questions: Are the different culinary traditions of countries sustainables? Is it possible to find solutions that combine taste and ethics, while respecting the gastronomic customs of different countries? "Green SOSlutions" delved into the effect our consumption habits have on the environment. The causes of climate change have always been reduced, in the media, to the transport industry and the use of water and other natural resources. In recent years, however, the issue of food waste and the problems of the livestock industry are beginning to be addressed. In this sense, the youth exchange aimed to put the spotlight on the consequences of our food choices for the planet. In addition, "Green SOSlutions" had the following specific objectives: - raise awareness of the possibilities of individual actions and their implementation; - promote healthy life, eating healthy food and having a balanced diet; - emphasise how a link between culinary tradition and ethics is possible; - promoting the rural world as a place where a better quality of life can be developed; - teach participants how to cultivate an organic garden; - offer the opportunity to try a low animal consumption diet during the project; - motivate participants to develop values of respect and protection of the environment; - empower young people as agents of change by giving them useful and practical tools through which they can develop awareness-raising actions; - encourage the exchange of traditions and customs between participants and countries; - promote the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme among young people and increase the knowledge of non-formal education methods and tools.
