We wanted to carry out this project because we see a need to find new tools to work with women and young people to increase their self-esteem and break the prejudices and assigned roles. The intervention with women through the Experiential Outdoor Education is projected as a process: starting with the moment in which they become aware of their personal situation and consider a positive change to the actions they take to move forward. Thus, the group stands as a reference of support for the construction, reconstruction of lives and reference for doing it among equals who have experienced similar situations, but each one from their individuality. The main objective of this project is to train multipliers of non-formal (and formal) education so that they can empower women, especially girls with fewer oportunities or at risk of social inclusion with outdoor experiential education activities and, in this way, empower them. The use of Experiential Outdoor Education is important in the sense that it is an innovative methodology but already with proven results. Experiential Outdoor Education allows people to experience physical, psychological and social challenges through a series of cooperative outdoor activities stimulating personal and social growth. “It is learning by doing, sharing and understanding.” The learning methods are outdoor activities that motivate participants, facilitate the process of reflection and allow each person to express themselves in an environment of trust and respect. The particular conclusions are transferred to situations and conflicts of the daily life. The Experiential Outdoor Education workshops are unique group experiences, which are based on outdoor activities such as interactive games, cooperative activities in rope fields, the construction of a team raft, or all kinds of adventure sports transformed into a group experience that derives into a deep reflection. The specific objectives of this project contemplated reflecting on working with women and providing resources to promote women's personal autonomy. It seeked to understand the needs and dynamics of different groups and become aware of our personal development through group intervention. Youth workers and / or people involved in associations will be provided with skills and methods for their professional development. Encourage cooperation between European countries and associated countries and thus encouraging mutual learning and involve disadvantaged groups together with changing the paradigm regarding the work with women are also part of the specific objectives. We understand that the lack of quality training causes gender roles and stereotypes to be perpetuated in educational content, the develop of outdated methodologies, a lack of resources and teaching tools, no professional support networks, an imposibility to individualized education, etc. We propose a change in this direction towards the realization of professional practice from a gender approach. It is necessary to take into account various social dimensions: civil society, education, family, community and based on this intersectional reality, the training of professionals and the construction of a pedagogical vision with a feminist approach.
