Objectives

The project had several main objectives, all of them related to food and, in turn, each related to another theme (health, culture and environmental/social). 1) Promotion of healthy eating. To promote healthy eating through learning about nutrition but also through raising awareness of the importance of living a healthy life, not to live longer, but to live better. And food is a fundamental pillar of this. In addition, indirectly, learning to cook also helps, as healthy food usually requires more elaboration. 2) Promotion of cooking as a practical learning experience and of the gastronomy of the participating countries. This is especially relevant in the profile of young people, as nowadays there is too much tendency to buy precooked food or to eat ready-made meals. And there is a tendency to "eat badly" at this age. Thus, learning to cook in a practical way is a very relevant learning process. And, since the intercultural process is a cornerstone of Erasmus+, what we have learned to cook have been typical menus of the participating countries. In addition, there have also been presentations on the gastronomy of each country. 3) Raising awareness and learning about methodologies to reduce food waste. On the one hand, it is necessary to inform about this problem, which is much more serious than it seems, and which not everyone is aware of. On the other hand, we worked on providing concrete tools and learning about basic measures that each of us can put into practice in our daily lives, as well as others that we can take collectively as a society, to reduce the large quantities of food that is perfectly fit for consumption and ends up being wasted. In addition, the project had other more transversal but no less important objectives: - To get to know the regional and national environment and culture of the place where the project takes place (Sierra Oeste de Madrid, Spain). - Cultural exchange and getting to know other cultures, with emphasis on gastronomy through specific workshops. - Establish human and interpersonal ties. Getting to know others and getting to know oneself better through reflection and meditation sessions. - Develop transversal skills such as public speaking, speaking other languages (especially English), coexisting and adapting to other people, time management, leadership, etc.
