Objectives

With this project, we wished to learn about ourselves, our new friends, the international field of organization work, voluntary work possibilities, influencing, and the rights and opportunities of young people in vulnerable situations. Our goal was to make a documentary film about our project and our encounters with our new friends, which we planned to publish through social media. We hoped that the film would help other young people in vulnerable situations to gather courage and join in international projects. We aimed to strengthen our working skills and possibilities in our home countries and abroad. The above objectives were excellently achieved during the Youth Exchange. The encounters between the young people were enriching and they made new friends, which is very relevant for this target group. The documentary film and blog series were created in collaboration during the Youth Exchange Week. The aim of the project was to build cooperation and find new ways to share experience-based knowledge internationally. We also wanted the project to remind ourselves that we were worthy even though we were not currently employed or studying. Through studying possibilities of voluntary work, we aimed to find out how we could use our knowledge in our home countries and internationally. We also wanted to strengthen our language skills. In the project, we also wanted to take the Valo-valmennus model with us to Romania so that the youngsters there could benefit from it. This was the first time the Valo-valmennus model was tested outside of Finland, and Romania definitely had the need for it. The Romanians taught the Finns about social entrepreneurship, which is widely used at FITT. The Finns also learned about the meaning of voluntary work, its importance, and the use of voluntary work among Romanian youth work. The above objectives were well met. The most suitable tool for identifying competences was the Youth Pass, which allows for the identification of the competences accumulated by each young person in an individual and comprehensive way. The Youth Pass is recognised throughout Europe and its use will continue to support young people in the future, should they wish to study or work in Europe.
