The CCIVS network has also supported the Palestinian cause, on a recent trip to our archives I found a text from the 70s writing in support of the Palestinian people and against the occupation. This project was a direct continuation of the work we have been doing over many years but specifically from the 2014 (Peace4Gaza) campaign which sought to raise awareness about the situation facing young people in Palestine and Israel. The visit also enabled European representatives to learn more about the work done on a local level with young people to provide them with opportunities and to prevent Violent Extremism (PVE). Another point was the UN report stating that Gaza would become unlivable by 2020, we wanted to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza and due to travel restrictions organisations had an online video call with youth representatives from the Gaza strip. The objectives were: - to reinforce the cooperation between European IVS members and stakeholders in Palestine and Israel, exploring the possibility for new partnerships; - to understand the local context, needs and issues, in order to increase the quality and efficacy of future projects in cooperation with old and new partners; - to increase the capacity of the participants and their organisations to work in the field of prevention to radicalisation and to violent extremism, learning strategies, approaches and educational instruments from youth workers in Palestine and Israel; - to raise awareness on the conditions of local youth in Palestinian communities and refugee camps, especially with reference to human rights, access to resources and freedom of movement; - to create messages through digital productions aimed to raise awareness of the issues affecting youth in Palestine and Gaza, and to improve digital competences of the participants; - to develop a communication platform where young people across Europe and the Southern Mediterranean region can share and update each other about their work on a local level.
