Creating and maintaining good quality of clear and valuable communication is a challenging activity for the communities, non-profit organisations and youth workers worldwide. Youth leaders, trainers and facilitators often struggle to deliver their instructions in an easy to understand way to groups of young people with a different cultural and social background. Happily, to the rescue comes the rich world of visual communication which empowers us with a huge amount of tools we can apply in our life and work. With our project we aim at empowering youth workers with the method of visual facilitation - an emerging visual communication tool that demonstrates excellent results in non formal education. Therefore, “Visualitation” will gather 28 facilitators, youth workers and young people with fewer opportunities in France and 28 community builders, rural areas inhabitants, activitsts, youth workers and facilitators in Italy to explore the method of visual facilitation at two empowering training courses. Our aims of these two activities are to train these people and help them master and apply visual facilitation in their work and life. We also believe the activities will bring new skills, enrich the multicultural and social aspect of their lives by meeting like-minded people from different corners of Europe. The project will offer alternative sources of non formal education, expression for marginalised youth and people with fewer opportunities in the continent. Our proposal is to spread innovative visual and digital tools among our participants and train them to use visual content: visual facilitation, photo, video, storytelling and social media to engage Europeans in intersectional learning and inclusion. They will have a chance to explore the positive impact of visual communication when used as a method of working with disadvantaged people and the general audience, to promote diversity and inclusion, to deliver their messages to the right audiences, in an understandable way. “Visualitation” is based on the assumption that every person, community and organisation has a unique story to be told and shared with the others. It is a modern extension of the art of storytelling that has been an important part of social interactions since the very birth of humanity. In today’s swifty changing educational environment agility is vital. Visual thinking and doing are key to the modern ways of learning and working and our project will help youth workers master it. As we mentioned before, our objectives during our project we plan to provide participants with a theoretical and practical framework of visual facilitation, to support the professional development of facilitators and youth leaders to improve the quality of youth work, to increasing the capacities and international dimension of the partners and enable them to offer services that better respond to the needs of their target groups, and to make sure that the follow-up outcomes from these activities will be well spread and communicated with the wider audiences of Nomadways and our partners. The creation of cross-sector educational tools will enable the participants to improve their personal and professional skills. Working closely with other European professionals will allow them to build an international network as well as contribute to the development of their European identity and a civic sense. The production of educational booklets illustrating the tools developed during the training courses; the public presentation of final results; the open meetings with local rural communities during the activities, as well as the design and animation of dissemination events and workshops in all partners countries will increase impact and visibility of our results. In the long term, the partnership aims to extend the influence of our project before new target audiences.
