Objectives

The EuroMed Eco project "For a greener future", taking place from October 29 to November 5, 2022 in Tunisia, was created at the end of the seminar "Coastal Valleys in the Mediterranean - Youth for the protection of our common sea" in Tunis in March 2019. This project, which was to begin in 2020, was to take place in three trilateral activities, in Béjaïa in Algeria, in Tunis in Tunisia and in Tangier in Morocco, and was aimed at three groups of 30 people. Throughout the pandemic, the three activities were postponed several times: first, because the exchanges were not compatible with health guidelines, and second, because we had not obtained the right to set up activities with minors in the Maghreb. The partners who continued to work with online tools were able to meet again in Marseille during the cooperation meeting of the M.E.R. network - Mobility, Exchange, Reciprocity - from June 13 to 18, 2022. It was an opportunity to rethink this project which has been on hold for too long. It was decided to organize a single activity with all the groups and partners in one place. For practical and administrative reasons we chose Tunisia, the most open country for the reception of French, German, Algerian and Moroccan groups because no group needed a visa. In the end, only one activity took place for 57 people instead of three activities for 90 people. Despite this change, we consider this project to have been a great success, at the partnership level, for the young people involved and because of its impacts and results. The main idea of this project was to gather the youth around active ecology. That is to say, to allow young people to have an active participation in the protection of the environment and awareness against pollution. If the Coastal Valleys seminar was intended for adults, the EuroMed Eco project is intended for active young people wishing to be sensitized. Moreover, it is an educational project to create active citizens who participate in civil society and want to have an impact in their countries. The objectives of this project lie in two main general themes: intercultural exchange and environmental protection. To address these themes, we have focused our activities on ecological awareness, creation of environmental messages, waste collection on national beaches; intercultural learning, communication, body language and language. The program, the activities developed, the speakers solicited were based on these objectives. To encourage the meeting of young people from Algeria, Germany, France, Morocco and Tunisia To accompany the work on intercultural understanding, on discrimination and prejudices To develop and maintain the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue To develop Franco-German-Maghrebian intercultural projects To create opportunities for young people to have an opening to the world and different cultures To create opportunities for young people to experience, for some of them for the first time, international mobility To exchange knowledge on the environment and sustainable development between the youth of these five countries. To network young people from the civil society to get involved in the protection of the environment with environmental professionals To sensitize a large public to the stakes of sustainable development and environmental protection Promote the emergence of a EuroMed eco network, with young ambassadors for environmental protection for eco-responsible exchanges.
