Equal means equal project was designed by the group if international youth workers and activists working in the peacebuilding field. Youth Peace Ambassadors Network in cooperation with its local branch YPA France, having the experience in running the international activities with and for young people, sees the need to develop and build upon competences of young people in peace building including the gender perspectives. Such a need was expressed by youth workers and YPAN members themselves, as we find it challenging how to ensure gender perspectives as central consideration in non-formal education. Within this project we would like to develop tools and the knowledge to tackle and appropriately address it and make our peace work more gender sensitive. By implementing the project we would like to empower 22 youth workers and youth leaders in the field of addressing gender equality issues such as sexist hate speech and other forms of violence and discrimination among young people, by analysing local realities, exchanging practices and developing sustainable activities aimed at promotion of more balanced, equal and inclusive societies in Europe. The objectives are: to explore and analyse existing gender equality issues in Europe and build a clear picture on the situation of gender stereotyping and sexism among youth and its consequences for the European societies; to develop at least 5 joined projects in the field of promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women among young people; to increase the competences of youth workers in the field of addressing gender imbalances in society; to co-design with the youth workers new tools to mobilise young people around to work for gender equality and violence prevention in the field of conflict transformation; to develop the guidelines for youth organisations in the fields of gender mainstreaming and gender sensitive approaches in peace education (or projects)
