The training course "Nature - an educational tool available to all" will be implemented from 19th to 25th February 2020 in order to educate 20 youth-workers from seven European countries on methods of outdoor experiential learning. The participants will be active youth-workers, but not experts in outdoor education. The idea for the training has arisen after repeated requests from professionals from the education sector both from Croatia and from our partner countries and organizations to share with them how to apply our methods in everyday work with youngsters. The training aims at teaching youth-workers how to implement outdoor education activities that don't require a high level of expertise in the outdoors and are not excessively time- and/or resource consuming, but have a positive impact on the personal and social competences of the youngsters who engage in them. We will include youth-workers who work with youth at risk of social exclusion since that is also one of our main target audiences, and since our experience in the field of outdoor education has shown that these activities can be, when organized and implemented correctly, highly impactful on those youngsters. The objectives of the project are manifold: • to develop a new range of skills and competences of active youth-workers in order for them to be able to organize and implement activities of outdoor experiential learning in their everyday work • create an experience for the youth-workers in the project that will put them in the shoes of youngsters who take part in outdoor education activities and therefor let them create a better understanding of the learning process • develop their understanding of the changing dynamic of a group in outdoor education activities and how to facilitate the youngsters’ learning and self-understanding in those moments • equip them with tools and models that help facilitate youngsters’ learning in the outdoors • understand the scope of the social impact of outdoor education • understand how outdoor experiential learning can be used to foster youngsters' intercultural learning and prevent prejudices and intolerance towards other cultures, nations, and religions • understand the theoretical background of outdoor experiential learning and that there are culturally dependent different approaches • give them the opportunity to practice implementing these activities while receiving support and feedback from the group • learning of the youth-workers about the Erasmus+ program and its opportunities for youth, learning about the Youthpass process • partnership building among the participating organizations, capacity-building, and international networking • sharing about different European practices in youth-work, intercultural learning of the participants themselves • to spread the impact of the project activity into the participants’ communities through their follow-up project and thus to include more youngsters, especially those with fewer opportunities, throughout Europe in activities of outdoor experiential learning
