Objectives

Surrounded by many information we tend to create a picture, we tend to judge, we tend to create stories about everything. Its no longer just the color of skin, the religion, or the country...we tend to judge the poor, the less privileged, the once coming from rural areas, we tend to judge people with disabilities.. We judge differences. The need to address the issues of prejudice has never been more critical than it is today. It is the root cause of hatred, discrimination, fear - and all the way on up to terrorism and war in its extreme form. We have to join our forces in the efforts to fight it wherever it occurs in order to make this a better world for all. These kinds of projects can join young people in forming their conscience into helping the fight. Unfortunately it isn't simply just a black and white issue, it asks many questions that require them to examine their own consciences - to maybe realize a few things about the many types of prejudice that we may not have thought about before, at least not on the surface. Discussions and workshops enable us to come to the conclusion that prejudice is widespread, it is wrong, and it must end. Those who are the victims of prejudice will undoubtedly be thinking "right-on", but are also asked if prejudice in itself justifies a reciprocal reaction, and the bigot is pushed into the ropes by asking them to re-examine their logic. Those in between can come away with many new insights to old issues. Overall, the project encourages the participants to first think, and then to act in the fight against prejudice. It is about getting the young people to want to become actively involved, and offers them several activities of pro-action, encouraging dialogue, tolerance, solidarity, and respect. Focus of the project will also be on prejudices and stereotypes specifically targeting youngsters with fewer opportunities, those who are less fortunate in the society, face some sort of obstacles or disability. Young people will have the opportunity to discuss prejudices and stereotypes that they have experience but also will have the chance to fight against them through creating small actions aiming reduce prejudices. Our project objectives are: - to discover our own prejudices and share it with the group; - to describe and share the realities of young people providing positive or negative example of prejudice and stereotypes issues; - to challenge the participants to reflect about their own identity and to share their experiences; - to enable participants to recognize stereotypes and prejudices, inequality, injustice, and racism, and most important to understand the need of ending them; - to find solutions in order to accept differences, fighting prejudices in everyday life; - to develop an at exhibition that will aim at raising awareness about these issues in the society; - to create an opportunity for young people to create social media campaign to raise awareness about the importance of the prejudice issues in everybody life; - to share our cultures, to organize interesting and constructive activities in order to make us use our knowledge as tool for do something pro-active about prejudice. The project will equip youngsters with fewer opportunities not only with knowledge on the concrete topic but also with tools that they can use in their future life to fight prejudices and stereotypes. They will explore their full potential in movie making and art painting, and will create results that will be used in future by others who work in this field.
