Objectives

“FoodPrint - sustainable solutions on our plates" will be a Youth Exchange happening in the village of Etyek, Hungary, between 19 and 28 June 2020. Its main focus is sustainable food, from the processes of its production, to eating it from the plate. We propose different kinds of food making, processing and consuming habits. It is very difficult to change the mindset of large food-producing companies from the top, although it might seem like a comfortable solution. In order to get closer to such goals, we need to start slow and from the individual. In this way, if more and more people are adopting sustainable food options, the large companies will slowly change as well. But to change on the individual level requires will and exposure to healthy practices. With these things in mind, we are proposing this Youth Exchange, as our contribution to the wellbeing of the planet through dissemination of healthy food practices. Our concrete objectives are: to connect the participants together and to form a larger community of people interested in sustainable food practices, to share and enhance experiences between the participants to raise awareness about the dangers of conventional agriculture and food-processing industries to show alternatives to these, including bio farming, permaculture, Fairtrade, community shopping local and seasonal food options, vegetarianism and veganism to reduce food-related waste and to go as close as possible to zero-waste to introduce participants to a plant-based approach to local cuisine to have fun while doing something to save the planet to show participants alternative everyday choices for both countryside and city dwellers The aim of this Youth Exchange is to have a big impact on the participants and their surrounding environment and people and persons and to raise the future’s activists. By doing this, we hope for a better, less polluted and healthy future for everybody and for the planet as a whole.
