Objectives

Next Step For Leaders was the continuation of a series of successful projects carried out by Egyesek Youth Association and our partners since 2016, (Changemaker, Changemaker 2.0, and Changemaker 3.0, Agents of Change, Leaders of Change). As the projects started to gain momentum and are now widely known in our networks (especially the Alliance of European Voluntary Service organizations bringing together organizations all over Europe to implement quality volunteering camps), there was a clear need from our partners to continue these types of trainings, that focus on the mindsets and attitudes of staff members and volunteers of the organizations to improve their overall performance as leaders. Accountability, self-reflection, willingness to act upon ideas, courage, and endurance are all attitudes that the partnership identified as things missing from their communities still, and seeing the success of previous projects, we now understand how much all of these qualities can add up to avoiding burn-out and more effective work or volunteering. We set out the implement Next Step For Leaders in order to keep the valuable educational program as well as to improve and enhance our impact on supporting the quality of youth work in Europe. We believe in continuous development and as such, we are adjusting the programs and the context of these trainings every time we implement them. Furthermore, we also started to see for the past few years, that there is a clear need for trainers and project managers to be trained in these methodologies, who are capable of implementing their own, similar programs in other countries - to amplify the impact we have in the field. In addition to implementing Next Step For Leaders 2 training courses, we also had this perspective of supplying a new generation in mind and provided possibilities for junior trainers and coordinators to work alongside us to learn more and more about the methodology and the background of the project. Objectives of the project were: - To provide tools for developing the quality of youth work and leading volunteers in workcamps and voluntary projects - To reflect on the role of leadership and explore participants’ own attitudes, approaches, and inner motivation for their work by volunteering - To improve and boost the practical skills of the participants for working with groups and projects in volunteering - To put participants’ experience into practice and multiply among their colleagues and target groups We are confident, based on the evaluation forms, the Youthpasses, the participant reports, partners' feedback, and the informal connections that are still allowing us to stay in touch with participants, that these objectives were met to the fullest extent possible.
