The youth exchange programme is to be implemented by coordinating with the Ökográf Association on the basis of the ideas and plans of six NGOs. The cooperating organizations will send five young people from all countries and one main group leader to the international programme, which will be held in Pécs between 16 and 30 August 2020. The aim of the programme is to provide participants with a common understanding of European and local traditional values and related cultural heritage, as well as of their importance. In our intercultural programme, participants are taught using both formal and informal educational methods. During the project, they work in six workshops under the leadership of local practitioners and youth facilitators. The concept of our project was inspired by LÉTRA, whose aim is to link traditional crafts with the activities of contemporary creative industries. Participants can acquire challenging techniques and participate in rewarding activities in the workshops, which are both based on tradition and in keeping with the tastes and expectations of young people today. In addition, the project encourages young people's entrepreneurship, providing good examples of how to spend their leisure time and lead independent and creative lives, as well as passing on experience and knowledge. The short-term impact of the project will be discernible during the programmes themselves, most significantly among participants, workshop managers and organizers. Our long-term aim with this project is to enable young people to discover and appreciate the value of their environment, enhance their ability to actively apply learned techniques and utilise acquired knowledge and abilities for their own enjoyment. During the dissemination stage, our aim is to spread the results of the project as widely as possible, as we consider it important to preserve local and European values.
