Celebrate European Cultural Diversity is framed within the key action 1. It is a 8 days (including travel days) Youth Exchange that will gather young people aged 14-19 years from Ireland, Spain and Turkey. Each country will bring 12 young people and two youth leaders including young people with fewer opportunities, those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those who are further disadvantage by their remote rural location. They will stay at the Plevne, Sakin Sk. No:2, 10050 Balıkesir Merkez/Balıkesir, Turkey. Locals from Balıkesir Merkezr will be invited to attend some sessions and the final farewell party. The objectives of the Youth Exchange is to deepen young people's awareness of cultural diversity and heritage in European countries, as well as raise awareness about issues of social inclusion, diversity, and equality. We will also discuss topics such as racism, tolerance, migrants, children's rights, self-acceptance, economic disadvantage without forgetting our environment, sports and health. We also aim to promote non-formal education and strengthen the quality of our youth work and that of our partners by learning from each other and sharing good practice throughout the exchange and beyond. All parts of this project are going to be carried out actively and through participatory techniques with many meetings and a lot of work from the four groups and other people who are helping us making it an inclusive project. Activities planned include presentations by our 2 participating countries on aspects of cultural diversity, exploration of the local area, games, discussion groups, teamwork, peer to peer learning and making presentations using creative arts forms and media including making videos, music and photography. A photo exhibition of heritage sites visited will be conducted by the participants of the project at the festival to further remind us about the beauty of our heritage. The youth exchange will support young people in developing competences and interpersonal skills that can support their labor market prospects. Our learning during the exchange will be presented at the festival which approximately 200 locals including school children from Balıkesir, Turkey will attend. Through our newsletters, social media and press releases the outcomes of our Youth Exchange and festival will be shared with young people and youth workers locally, nationally and internationally. All the participants of the project will realize that they are a part of Europe where each person is important and valued just as they are. The objectives set, the activities proposed and the values that we want to transmit, will be applied through cooperative and non competitive games seeking to develop personal growth, self-esteem, and mutual respect for others and the environment. Each participant will have the possibility to show themselves as they are and to contribute their knowledge, aptitudes and attitudes to the group, enriching all of us with it.
