By organizing and implementing this project we wanted to increase the quality of active youth participation in youth councils in Reykjavik, Helsinki and Denmark. The objective was to create a platform for youth workers and youth leaders engaged in youth councils and youth participatory actions for the exchange of good practice. The aim was to increase the role of youth in decision making for example through the introduction of participatory budgeting involving youth as in Helsinki and how the Danish association of youth councils are supporting the local youth councils. Representatives from Iceland wanted also to look into the possibility of creating an event in Iceland similar to the Young Peoples Festival (Ungdommens folkemode) that was visited as a part of the programme. An additional objective was to create partnerships potentially leading to future projects such as youth exchanges between Iceland, Denmark and Finland.
