World Music Exchange is a project designed to enhance one of Italy's greatest resources, in particular in this case of Puglia Region and the Taranto land: the cultural and musical artistic heritage. Music unites people and this is the concept behind our project and behind each activity. The aim of the project is to meet, to create new relations through music production. The issue of the project is to promote intercultural dialogue, raise awareness of cultural diversity and solidarity through non-formal activities that include music production, to develop the competences of the musicians to work with the topic of active citizenship. This project will be an opportunity for the enhancement of the European artistic and musical heritage: it is an opportunity of growth for the participants who are passionate about the topic, to learn more about national traditional music, music production, show business and musical entrepreneurship, to share knowledge about European music, to share different point of views and get more knowledge about interculturality. The participants will want to participate in the activities as this project will give them space to express themselves through music, art and culture in general; it will be a space that will allow them to create something completely their own and personal, enhancing their culture and cooperating with other participants. The idea of carrying out this project during the European Music Day was also a great opportunity to bring people closer to European culture, in a city with an important port tradition that has always seen the fusion of different cultures. We have tried to raise awareness on this topic by involving the local community with visits to the city and places of interest, concerts and various activities as part of an international project with participants from different parts of Europe. The objectives underlying the project were: - Learn more about national traditional music; - Share knowledge on European music, music production, music entrepreneurship; - Share different points of view and acquire more knowledge on interculturality; - Use music as a universal communication tool beyond social, cultural, mental, physical and geographical barriers; - Promote intercultural dialogue, raise awareness of cultural diversity and solidarity through non-formal educational activities that include music production, from writing to the final product; - Develop the skills of musicians to work on the theme of active citizenship through music and stimulate the active participation of young musicians to perform, listen and create music.
