Objectives

The main objective of the project was to spread the idea of tolerance, inform young people about migration and raise awareness about the importance of integration using non-formal education methods. Today, migration is a major social, economic and political issue in global society. Challenges arise for both migrants and host country society. The major problems that need to be addressed are distrust, intolerance, inequality, racism, stereotyping, xenophobia, bullying, segregation etc. With this youth exchange, we have tried to provide participants with useful and effective tools to help them understand the issues from different points of view and to learn and understand the difficulties migrants face in their daily lives. The main objectives of this youth exchange was to : • To increase the knowledge and awareness of the participants on the challenges related to migration and integration; • Help them understand the importance of tolerance; • Create an opportunity for participants to share their personal experience and attitudes towards the topic; • Know the cultural similarities and differences between the participants according to their country of origin, in order to deepen and better understand the diversity of the topic; • Encourage and support young people to take personal initiative; • Increase the involvement of young people in the different phases of the project, including writing, planning, implementation and dissemination; With the help of the discussions we were able to focus on attitudes and stereotypes related to migrants. Participants discussed how people in their countries talk about migrants, how they are treated and helped to integrate into their society. We were thus able to; analyze the situation in different countries, compare them with each other and share common good practices. We tried to make our participants more aware of the needs of migrants and the importance of fighting stereotypes. After gaining knowledge and experience on these issues, they will be able to spread the information among their families, friends and people in their community. Thus, the participants themselves become good examples for others, showing themselves to be tolerant and more aware than their peers. Participants will thus have the opportunity to participate in the creation of a more informed, aware and tolerant community, eager to integrate migrants into their society. Creating educational opportunities and providing young people with access to fully participate and become active in their social life will help the integration process by disseminating information and raising awareness of migrant issues in their society. Living in a more aware and tolerant society will give migrants greater opportunities and possibilities to participate in the economic, social and cultural life of the country in which they live. During the youth exchange, non-formal teaching methods were used. The methods used gave rise to discussions and group work, through: icebreaking, role-playing, group games, theatrical games, brainstorming, debriefing, circle time, problem setting, problem solving.
