ARTS STREET was born from the awareness that the active participation and involvement of young people represent a fundamental asset in the process of revitalizing historic centres, at the same time triggering employment opportunities and overall redevelopment of places which are often affected by depopulation and present situations of abandonment and degradation. Therefore, the young people of L'Universale 2000 were inspired by the project started by the commercial activities and residents of a street in the historic center of Viterbo called "la Via degli Artisti", which aims to repopulate, thanks to the presence of artists and exhibitions of all forms of expression (painting, sculpture, performing arts, artistic craftsmanship, etc.), a fundamental artery of the historic center currently abandoned. In fact, 80% of the shops on the street are closed, with vacant and unkept premises; the same goes for the residents, who have drastically decreased in recent years, considering the street a real ghost area. With ARTS STR.E.E.T. the young proponents intended to develop an action of inclusion, social innovation and urban resilience through the creation of an idea of social enterprise, inspired by the enhancement of cultural heritage through the use of new technologies in an inclusive manner, could lead them to develop skills self-entrepreneurial, but also to make them reflect on the issues of active and aware citizenship, European integration, equal rights for all, making young people themselves protagonists of this urban, economic and social redevelopment process. It also represented a widely shared need to counter the growing lack of interest of young people in the broad themes of public life, the absence of knowledge of basic civic education, awareness of their own rights as citizens and European citizens, the ability to build bridges, and not walls, towards the other and the "different". Not only that: demonstrating how creativity could represent a new form of self-employment by developing creative entrepreneurial activities represented an added value to support young people in defining their future. To make these topics interesting for young people, however, it was necessary to address them in a language familiar to them. Starting from this needs analysis, ARTS ST.R.E.E.T. placed the theme of creativity at the center of the debate as a tool for urban regeneration, as a social glue and as a push for the development of civic sense and international cooperation. In this way, young people have represented the heart of a concrete process of urban valorisation, operating simultaneously as agents of social inclusion, tolerance and acceptance of differences, and participation in the life of their own cities. Not only that: thanks to the focus on urban regeneration as a possible economic driving force for the territory, ARTS STR.E.E.T. intended to activate interest in the themes of the creative, cultural industry and ancient crafts/artistic craftsmanship, stimulating entrepreneurship. ARTS ST.R.E.E.T was thus born directly from the idea of young people who actively collaborate with the cooperative, who evaluated the need to conceive informal or non-formal initiatives, inspired by self-organization, flexibility, the possibility of participating at any time of the training process, from the conception to the evaluation, to the close and always alive connection with the interests and aspirations of the young people, engines of the learning flow. Main objectives: - to enhance intercultural awareness, guaranteeing a more active and conscious participation in society and in the life of local urban communities, enhancing youth creativity; - Increase the creative, self-entrepreneurial, digital and transversal skills of the participants, with the implementation of non-formal learning activities that concern teamwork, respect and enhancement of multiculturalism, increase in self-esteem and autonomy in learning by doing, acceptance of differences, tolerance, active listening, participation, awareness of one's own strengths and weaknesses. In this sense, it is understood how ARTS STR.R.E.E.T. has fully achieved the Youth E + priorities, which aims to improve the key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, fully integrated into our project, as well as promote active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity , a proactive and resilient reflection on the issues of participation in the life of local communities, of European citizenship, also through a renewed entrepreneurial protagonism inspired by respect for differences, equal opportunities, the use of digital technology for the use of cultural heritage.
