We wanted to continue working on the topic of health and added sustainability as in the past we had a project on healthy lifestyle, the topic was quite narrow and we wanted to enlarge it. Some activities were the continuation of our previous project which took place in June, 2019 on healthy lifestyle, because sustainability and healthy way of life are interrelated. The proposed project exchange was planned to take place in March, 2020 but as Covid19 restrictions started in March 2020 the project exchange was postponed till 2022. Each participating organization had to organize workshops that not only boost physical and psychological well-being but also show their commitment to sustainability. We wanted all our participants to take an active part in shared leadership and feel its influence on well-being and not just on them but also on people surrounding them. That is why during this project we also wanted to encourage local communities to join us. During the project exchange in 2019 it was not possible to include all students who wanted to take part, so this time we tried to involve those who did not have a chance to take part in the previous project and involved them not only in exchange activities but also in all the preparatory activities before the project exchange, during it and after the project. After dissemination of the previous project new students from partner countries expressed wish to take part in healthy way of life project and helped in writing a new application for an international exchange. They also initiated to add an extra value to the project including sustainable lifestyle which strengthened own health, supported the well-being of other people and protected the environment. The need for sustainable healthy lifestyle is very important because these days most young people pay too little attention to the environment they live in and spend sedentary way of life what causes health problems. Thanks to the ideas of the proposed project those youngsters became aware of the problems and they saw the benefits of sustainable environment, physical activity, healthy way of life and balanced diet. So, the participants of this project - 4 out of 5 organizations which took part in the previous project - Lithuania, Turkey, Romania and Italy and 1 new organization from Czech Republic, wanted to develop sustainability project and continue some of the activities started in the previous project. It started from the learning outcomes of the past exchange and included new things and activities, also involved local people from Druskininkai and Kibysiai village. The aim of the project was to promote a sustainable healthy lifestyle among the participants with smaller opportunities, to develop their skills through active shared leadership which influences sustainable, healthy lifestyle, well-being, and cultural awareness and to prepare them to transmit the gained skills further to their local communities. Specific objectives of the project were: - To teach youngsters to share leadership in organizing and multiplying sustainable healthy lifestyle which positively influences their well-being, the well-being of people surrounding them and also environment; - To deepen and enlarge the knowledge got during the previous project on healthy lifestyle and to share that knowledge involving more local communities; - To provide participants and local communities with more opportunities to improve their competences on sustainability, overall physical, psychological and health competences; - To promote sustainable healthy lifestyle as a social inclusion tool for combating marginalization, xenophobia, negative stereotypes (in local, national and European society). - To promote sustainable lifestyle which helps participants to change their personal behaviors regarding food, transportation, or energy choices. The project enabled cultural integration through cultural evenings, sport sessions, workshops and other interactive, non formal activities. There was a balance of physical, cultural and social activities during which participants were able to develop their interpersonal skills and shared their knowledge with local communities. The young people from partner countries were able to increase their knowledge of Lithuanian culture by visiting local landmarks where social activities took place together with local communities. Each organization was fully involved in the preparation of the exchange, activities during the week: introducing their own countries, culture, notions of sustainable healthy way of life in specific daily sessions with project participants and local community in order to enhance mutual understanding.
