Objectives

“STOP bullying” is a Youth Exchange project organized by organization “Neribota ateitis” from Lithuania. Main Youth Exchange are planned to take place at 29.03 – 06.04.2020 (7th - travel day) in Kaunas, Lithuania. Participating countries: Lithuania (LT), Italy (IT), Bulgaria (BG), Greece (GR) Nowadays more and more children, teenagers, adults, parents and teachers struggle with bullying almost every day at home, in the playground, in the classrooms, on the internet, within communities and beyond. As a result of rapid growth of electronic communication the new environment for bullying has emerged. A recent study performed in the framework of the EU funded programme “European Campaign against Bullying” shows that 51% of students have experienced bullying in Lithuania, 50% of students in Estonia, 43% in Bulgaria, 31% in Greece, 25% in Latvia and 15% in Italy. The numbers are astounding and indicative of the growing dimension of bullying phenomenon in EU communities (https://cesie.org/bullying-prevention-european-schools-network/, 01-09-2020). Furthermore, according to a survey implemented by the World Health Organization, about 70% of Lithuanian youth experienced peer bullying at least once; almost a third of school children experience frequent bullying (2-3 times per month and more). Moreover, according to the facts and statistics – cyberbullying is on the rise worldwide. The 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Systemexit disclaimer icon (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) indicates that an estimated 14.9% of high school students were electronically bullied in the 12 months. Even though the majority of cases of bullying occur during school years, it leads to serious long term consequences. Research has found that children and adolescents who have been bullied can experience negative emotional, psychological (depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harming behavior), academic effects (negative impact on both grades and standardized test scores) and physical harm that may scar the victims (for egz. being injured from a physical attack can develop sleep disorders - such as difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep - stomachaches, headaches, heart palpitations, bedwetting, and chronic pain and somatization) and the bullies for their rest of their lives. Together with friends from Bulgaria (BG), Greece (GR) and Italy (IT) we believe that we need to develop the appropriate behaviour among young people and in this case to protect themselves from bullying and prevent others from it. There are many ways to engage youth in bullying prevention through different activities and some of them are – the arts. Arts not only can help to create dialogue, but also to increase the social inclusion, tolerance and prevent bullying between peers. We believe that arts as a universal language, can bring people together and send a message of anti-bullying in a creative way. As both we, young people from LT and others from IT, BG, GR believe that this project can increase social inclusion, we will involve no less than 16 youth facing fewer opportunities. Aim: To change the behaviour and attitudes of 36 young people, 4 group leaders, 2 facilitators, towards bullying through arts as one of anti-bullying tool and at the same time increase the social inclusion of 16 participants with fewer opportunities (social/geographical/economic obstacles) 29.03 – 06.04.2020in Kaunas, Lithuania. Objectives: 1. Raise awareness of 36 young people about bullying, cyber bullying, bullying situation and anti-bullying strategies in 4 different countries until the end of the project. 2. Discover arts as a mean to fight against bullying for 36 youth and increase social inclusion for 16 participants with fewer opportunities until the end of the project. 3. Encourage 36 young people to contribute to the prevention of bullying until the end of the project. Our objectives specifically target and linked to Erasmus+ objectives of: 1.
