Objectives

The activities contained within this project came upon the request of our partners for a training course that would bring the methodologies that we develop at react closer to them. To add to the experience, we decided to incorporate a study visit as a second activity that was used to demonstrate in practice the use of these tools. Our partners are highly motivated to learn more and apply music as a tool of self-expression within their local activities up to this day. These partners explicitly reached out to us and asked for an intense training where all the methodology used within our music activities will be brought closer to part of the youth workers that want to carry out this activity on a local level later on. This project was contained of two activities: 1.Training course that brought 17 youth workers from 6 organizations here in Luxembourg city to learn the methodology and positive practices that we did in ReAct so far. The activity involved youth workers with and without musical background to experience, learn and apply in practice the innovative tools and methods that ReAct have been developing since its foundation. The intense workshops provided the participants with the applicable knowledge to use music as a tool to: - help young people express themselves better and feel that their voice is being heard - better understand the young people they work with and create a strong bond - prepare workshops on crafting percussion instruments from everyday items - organize drum circles, jamming session and performances (for a wide span of young people, regardless of their background in music) 2. Study visit hosted by our partner 'ZKS Akcija' where 12 youth workers from the same 6 organizations (2 participants each) experienced the best follow-up activity picked up after 'Spread the word, Sing with us (part 1)' and built into a self-sustainable local jamming session gatherings that grow bigger with every following organized event. In simple words, the study visit had the purpose to demonstrate in practice the use of these tools and allow the participants to take part into organizing of one of these activities on the spot.
