Objectives

“The international exchange SPEAK PEACE, NOT HATE took place in Sanem, Luxembourg, 6-13 September 2021 and gave the possibility to 40 young people from Luxembourg, Romania, Estonia, Turkey and Portugal to attend the project and to have an exciting exchange about peace. Today about 80% of young people have free access to the internet and social networks, and no one ever made any serious effort to educate us about the wise use of these new technologies and communication tools. The violence and discrimination are a very present reality in our schools and in our universities, and for this reason, we wanted to teach young people new skills in order to stem and prevent these phenomena. The youth exchange «Speak Peace not Hate» linked to the general objectives and important features of the Erasmus+ program and KA1. It developed the mobility of young people in Europe; provide informal and non-formal education; create innovative opportunities for creativity, especially for young people with fewer opportunities. Through the intercultural evening and countries presentations, participants developed intercultural learning skills. Our common aim was to promote fundamental European values among young people; encourage the initiative, entrepreneurship and creativity, etc. Main theme of the project was importance of active role of the young people as peace builders and initiators for reconciliation in their own communities. The philosophy of the project was to study mental processes and behaviours that generate violence, prevent violence and promote the use of nonviolent methods, and create favourable conditions for ensuring a polite, respectful and dignified treatment of all with the aim of reducing the level of violence and helping to get rid of its psychological consequences.
