Objectives

The problem identified by our volunteers in the communities of all partners chosen for this project were: -the lack of basic education and actions in terms of waste collection, processing and storage, environmental pollution (rivers and woods polluted by plastic bags and containers), -lack of coordination between local authorities and civil society for common plan on ecology, creating agreements and bins of spaces to store garbage in villages, -recycling and zero waste workshops for youngsters). The main aim of the project "Into the Wild" was to show importance of environmental protection in small communities by the young participants through creative campaigns made using methods of non-formal education and through concrete actions to reduce the negative impact caused by man to nature. Also we wanted to make better communication between participants and their community. The objectives of “Into the Wild” was: -To promote the concept of European citizenship, reminding young people values such as dialog and solidarity, which they will show in both activities within the group and also when they will interact with local community. The idea from which we start is that a good European citizen is connected about the problems his community faces and get actively involved in finding solutions. -To increase the involvement of young people in general issues that affects society, in this case, their care for environment -To increase solidarity for the rural community members, and tolerance for their disadvantages caused by lack of an appropriate environmental education -To promote diversity, having 30 participants from 5 countries with very different cultural background -To develop mutual understanding between young people from different countries and cultures, making them take a series of commitments and also, establishing ways to work together as a group -To promote active learning introducing diverse of non-formal education methods -To include young people with fewer opportunities from rural areas (unemployed, with economic difficulties, from isolated areas with less access to information) as active part of the project (in the preparation team and as participants). The project was made to foster active participation of young people and their involvement in issues of National and European importance, to promote non-formal learning and information programmes and projects targeted at youth, to focus on cultural diversity, to include diverse of young people with fewer opportunities from rural areas, to promote mutual understanding and last but not least, we hoped that we will inspire young people for future projects on this theme conceived by Do Great Things.
