Objectives

The project "The Devil's Advocate" was organized by the European Center for Research and Regional Development as a candidate in Latvia from 13.11 - 23.11.2021 with the purpose of bringing together 30 young people from Latvia, Slovenia, Turkey, Germany, Italy to provide in-depth consideration of critical thinking, the attainment of objectivity, effective communication and public speaking techniques, understanding of oneself and the psychological cause of others thinking. The project provided young people with the necessary knowledge, skills and competences to develop competencies, both in psychological and in business terms. Participants were able to experience the TEATER simulation game on the basis of the acquired basic foundations, which they were able to distribute and adapt in their local environments to other young people. Participants presented final TEATER simulation game "The Devils Advocate" to themselves and played in the end of Youth Exchange. Participants have recorded, and shared the acting, due to Covid measurement, the planned show could not happen. Therefore their presenting in online with different channels and at their organisation, have been/will as a symbol and core of our project, as our goal is to raise awareness of critical thinking. At the same time, an artistically crafted BOOKLET "My Mindset" has been created at the end of the project, with visible life changes for each participant, with unique views and developments before and after the project. Therefore, the project itself allows for the development and management of the project's implementation in practice, thus promoting youth activism in its local communities. The project focuses especially on ways to increase critical thinking and non-formal education methods to build competencies ranging from communication, objectivity, understanding of diversity, etc. Participation in the project helped participants build confidence and further support to disseminate results and experiences. In this regard, the program of the project focused on definitions, information and awareness of general concepts and tendencies. In the next phase, activities were focus on the development of individual competencies and initiatives and the identification of mechanisms for achieving critical thinking. As a further step, the activities were focus on the development of individual competencies for effective communication and public speaking. All this created the framework of the competencies and knowledge needed to integrate, prepare and run the TEATER simulation game "The Devil's Advocate", which is a great method to integrate so many required competencies. In order to achieve their goals, the project activities were based on non-formal education methods, using different games, working in groups, simulations, role plays, round tables, sharing experiences, group discussions etc. Through mobility on the fundamentals, practices, the direct beneficiaries was participants in the project. The program and its contents were designed to guide participants through the learning process by: - Expressing creative ideas and solving the problem of critical thinking itself and achieving it - Finding innovative ways to encourage young people with fewer opportunities to improve their competences and their own opinions - Finding new methods and techniques for creating campaigns for this challenge locally All activities were interactive and involved the active participation of all participants. To achieve a lasting impact in the long term, together with its partners, initiated, motivated, led and monitored the creation of follow-up activities, which was also be discussed between partners and participants, especially at the end of the project. The acquired knowledge on the project itself was shared with other members of their organizations, local communities and other interested stakeholders. In order to promote European policies and strategies and to help achieve the objectives themselves, the objectives of the project were the following: - Disseminate knowledge; education with the right skills and competences to increase competencies (critical thinking, objectivity, communication, self-esteem ...) among young people - Exchange of knowledge, experience in the field of critical thinking, objectivity, general global topics and knowledge - Encourage the participation of young people especially in disseminating the results of the project and the game - Encourage creativity, critical thinking and a sense of understanding of others - Enable young people to take initiatives at local level to promote critical thinking and new innovative informal methods through simulation games - Creating a network of young people and organizations, promoting mutual cooperation and future actions under the Erasmus + program
