During our last YE in Estonia (we were partner) about media literacy, there was a session facilitated by the Dutch youngsters in which the young people were brainstorming about what kind of youth exchanges would they like to organize and about which topic. One topic that came out strongly from these sessions was lack of sexual education and mainly on sexual ethics, healthy & unhealthy relationships, objectification of women in media & increase of sexual contents , types of sexuality, growing addiction to porn & its affect on our views on sex & relationships etc,. The discussion already heated up while we were pitching the ideas and continued for days after. This demonstrated that how much there is a need to have a project on this topic. In schools the sexual education is handled but the main focus is on having safe sex. While there is much more to it. The way in which youth learn about sexuality in our culture can be influenced by the media, their peers and family. Unfortunately, the information they receive may be incomplete, inaccurate and misleading. There is lot of info missing, there are lot assumptions and misconception. Also, what was fascinating is how within Europe there is difference how the subject of sexuality is dealt with. Even things like use of body language and sense of personal space is hugely different. Also the growing porn addiction & sexual content in media was heavily debated and how it affecting our daily lives and love relationships and our views on sex which by far is not healthy. That’s why we want to organize and implement a Youth Exchange "Let’s Talk About Sex" in which want to discuss different topics regarding sexuality and raise awareness about ethic, sexual norms, gender equality and sex, intersexuality, types of sexuality, healthy relationships & healthy sex life etc. With this youth exchange project, we will bring together youth from different European countries together and by using non-formal methodology, visits and thematic workshops, create comfortable space where they can share their experiences, views about sexuality, sexual norms & sex culture in their countries and how sex plays a role in their daily lives and between each other. It’s so strange that living in 21st century is talking about sex still feels very unnatural while it’s the most natural thing. With this youth exchange, we AIM to foster intercultural dialogue about sex and promote a healthy sex attitude, sexual norms and sexual values among youngsters, which altogether is pivotal in building a healthier European society and increase general wellbeing and quality of life. The OBJECTIVES of this project are: - to raise the awareness about differences in sexual norms, sex culture, body language and (sexual) values within Europe - Enables participants to feel more comfortable and talk more openly about (Sexually transmitted Infections (STI’s), contraception, their bodies, and address any other misconceptions they may have regarding sexuality by working in small groups. - Provide participants with an opportunity to understand and reflect on their present knowledge about stereotypes, and personal values regarding sexual issues - to raise the awareness of different types of sexualities & LGBTQ rights - to share knowledge, experiences and ideas about to promote a healthy sexual mindset and lifestyle -to raise cultural awareness, foster inter-cultural dialogue and mutual understanding - to use creativity to express their opinions and thoughts - to provides an opportunity to practice their cognitive and behavioral safe sexual skills (e.g. through role play). - to Increase young peoples personal awareness and value clarification since these activities emphasize self-disclosure and feelings of awareness (e.g. group discussions). - to acquire and transfer new methods of non-formal - to increases group cohesiveness by getting acquainted with one another and building trust in a non-formal setting (e.g., ice breaker activities, building ground rules). - to understand a long-term perspective of the benefits of having a healthy attitude towards sex - to promote the accessibility of the Erasmus + Programme for young people with fewer opportunities. - to create awareness about the consequences of porn addiction and how it affects our normal relationships and views on sex - to use creativity to express their opinions and thoughts - to foster peer-dialog about matters concerning their personal lives, cultures & wellbeing - to discover and promote principles of a healthy lifestyle - to help participants to acquire skills and attitudes needed to live healthily and the motivation to use them after this YE; - to coordinate and work constructively with others, overcoming cultural and language barriers, to achieve common goals;
