Objectives

The main aim of Once Upon A Time is to put our expertise and experience at the service of youth workers, equipping them with tools and competences to face conflicts constructively and creatively, with the intention of creating connection and learning out of them. Looking at a broader picture, we see this as relevant not only for daily youth work, but as a contribution to a more open and inclusive society where differences are valued and appreciated, and in this sense conflicts are an opportunity for engaging in dialogue, communicating clearly and authentically, and giving space and value to the opinion of other people. The main tool that we will use as a frame to build the set of competences that we aim to transmit, is storytelling. Storytelling is a creative tool that can help to look at conflicts in a playful, empathetic, less threatening way, involving all the senses, and bringing a holistic view and different perspectives. Therefore, the youth-workers and trainers that will participate in OUT will discover the approach of storytelling and how to use it in conflict transformation; gain ways to communicate in conflicts in order to create connection, mutual understanding and effective agreements; develop competences to handle conflicts, to be used with and transferred to their target groups; and acquire different methods to work using storytelling as a tool in youth-work, conflict management and intercultural contexts. The main aim of the project can be broken down into the following objectives: • to train 30 youth workers on key competencies to handle conflicts • to disseminate and spread the outcomes of the TC through 7 workshops that participants will organize inside their own organisations (1 per partner) • to disseminate and spread the outcomes of the TC through a booklet collecting stories and work forms to handle conflicts through storytelling, with the contribution of every partner • to ensure that evaluation of the learning happens during the project through Youthpasses and questionnaires. Our project is highly coherent with the following objectives of Erasmus+ program: - Reaching out to marginalized young people, promoting diversity, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, common values of freedom, tolerance and respect of human rights. And: -Equipping youth workers with competences and methods needed for transferring the common fundamental values of our society, particularly to the hard to reach young people, and preventing violent radicalization.
