Objectives

"Make your own choices, Make your of own Future" - a project about 'choice stressing among young people' - focuses on the exchange between young people from the Netherlands and Germany. Together with the creative approach of ZID Theater from Amsterdam (NL) and Theaterwerkstatt für aktive Kultur e.v./ Studio 7 from Schwerte (DU), 16 young people will participate in the project. They will work to make the topic of 'choice stress' - and the complexity associated with it - open to discussion and insightful and understandable for young people. The five-day project will be carried out in the Netherlands from 19 up to and including March 23 2020 (excluding travel days) with a group of participants, with equal gender ratio, who come from a target group with social, economic, geographical and cultural obstacles. During our project we want to make young people aware of the mechanisms that come into effect when choice stress arises, provide them with the right (creative) tools to deal with this and to provide insight into their own talents to develop them further and to empower themselves. We believe that this will ensure positive results for both the young people who participate in our project and the young people from their community. This is because we teach the participating young people to actively address choice stressing so that they can help peers with this and encourage them to strengthen their own talents. In this way we will achieve our most important objectives and thus fulfill the main objective of youth exchange. We bring an international group of young people together to share experiences, to jointly find answers to the questions that exist, and to present them in an appealing form. The participants from both countries get to know each other, discover and develop their own talents and present themselves to a wide audience of young people in the Netherlands. Goals: 1) To enable participants to understand choice stress and to deal positively with it by providing them with the most important theories, models, examples and conversations in the field of choice stress and talent development. 2) Learn to integrate ideas, theories and techniques that were taught to the young people during the workshop and to apply them in practice. 3) To promote and continue interaction, networking and partnerships between people from different cultures after the project. 4) The participants go to work with a creative approach to the theme, gain more insight into their lives and can further apply both the approach and the personal results in their own lives. 5) collectively artistic input is created: scenes, vlogs, poetry, raps, and dance for a closing presentation, in Amsterdam, with the creative presentations of both groups and for a wide audience. All materials and technical equipment required for carrying out the activities are supplied by the receiving organization. By sharing their own experiences with this youth exchange, participants gain more insight into intercultural learning.By exchanging their own experiences through this youth exchange, participants gain more insight into intercultural learning. We believe that this project will be an effective way to cultivate understanding for cultural diversity in Europe. From sharing personal cultural backgrounds to an inclusive society. However, the impact will not only be limited to the intercultural learning process, but will also provide basic knowledge about 'choice stressing among young people'.
