The project "Digital Leadres Academy" was a grassroots initiative of a group operating at the Fundacja im. Braci Sołuńskich – Cyryla i Metodego. This group - during voluntary activities - noticed that the number of young people struggling with the „digital dementia” and many of their peers are unable to use new technologies for a useful purpose. Many of them cannot use a smartphone for any purpose other than social networking sites such as Facebook or Instagram. In addition to the basic functions, they cannot use it for any other purpose, e.g. use the phone to manage time, increase their concentration and productivity. Through an individual and group approach to young people and the results of the research, they came to the conclusion that young people more and more often reach for the phone "turning off their thinking", which exposes themselves to the danger of external factors and also creates memory loss in the young person. Aware of the problem, by analyzing its causes and effects, we decided to create an exchange of young people who want to expand their knowledge about the healthy use of digital devices - in a way that will not harm, but will improve their productivity, increase creativity and efficiency. Through participation, we wanted to help them find their place in the adult life they are entering, but – in the same time - making them aware of the dangers of digital dementia. The participants developed their knowledge about new technologies, their possibilities and learned how to use them to increase the effects of their daily work. Participants increased their self-confidence, motivation and leadership skills to share knowledge with others. They talked about the underlying causes of digital dementia in their countries - about their commonalities and differences. Young people are often unable to achieve their goals, because they lack self-confidence and faith in their abilities, which is why we worked on their self-presentation, attitude and the ability to share knowledge. Similar observations were made by initiative groups operating at partners from "BRAVO", "SFERA", "ENAS" and "OPA". This exchange will provide participants with a unique opportunity to learn and develop communication skills that can make a decisive impact on other people, which is one of the most important factors for personal, social and professional success. The youth exchange program was based on non-formal and innovative educational methods, its goals and assumptions were also based on the latest scientific research in the field of psychology. Due to the specific nature of the group, an approach adapted to its specific features and problems resulting mainly from the recent turbulent history was applied. The project fulfilled the following goals: - training participants in the effective use of a smartphone - training participants in basic interpersonal skills - training participants in increasing their concentration in the era of digital noise - training participants in the field of minimalism in the digital world - training participants to increase their productivity through the use of new technologies - increasing creativity, self-confidence and motivation of participants - educating participants about digital dementia
