Objectives

The project 'Theatre unites - equal on stage, equal in life, equal in Europe' concerned theatrical activities undertaken at ZPSW by the 'Mimo To' Theatre, which has been in existence since 2007. The group performs at school events and celebrations, and has also taken part in national theatre reviews and won significant prizes, e.g. at the National Review of Theatre of Children and Young People with Hearing Impairment in Szczecin. The idea for the project was born as a result of observing the beneficial impact of theatre classes on the functioning of children in many spheres, as well as the desire to show pupils one of the many ways to change the quality of life of people with disabilities. We based the project on key competences for the individual development of people with disabilities through informal and non-formal learning. It was created to help our pupils and graduates acquire the basic skills needed for adult life and to bring out their strengths and resources. We wanted them to acquire the competences necessary for their personal development and for future employment and active participation in European citizenship. We are convinced that mobility abroad and cooperation in an international environment has increased our pupils' knowledge and understanding of the diversity of European culture and languages and made them more aware of their membership of the European community. In implementing the project, we wanted to counteract the marginalisation of people with disabilities in education and access to culture, and to help increase our pupils' communicative and social competences. It was also important to increase the self-confidence of the project participants by giving them the opportunity to share their successes and already acquired skills while travelling abroad. We wanted to create an opportunity to exchange experiences with young people from other European countries and, at the same time, raise the students' level of foreign language use. Project objectives: I To stimulate the personality development of participants with disabilities. 1. To develop the key competences necessary to function independently in society. Improving communication skills and awareness of one's own emotions. 3. To develop creativity and creative thinking. II To promote the values of freedom, tolerance and respect for human rights. III Promoting diversity and intercultural dialogue. Through the project we wanted to address the following issues and problems: 1. To give youth work a European dimension. 2. To contribute to the integration of disabled people in various spheres of life, including social inclusion and active participation in European citizenship 3. To overcome stereotypes about disability.
